How do I join a sports board?
The first step is joining the Sport Director Talent Community, a dedicated targeted talent pipeline connecting sporting organisations nationally with individuals seeking a board role.
How does the Sport Director Talent Community work?
- Members of the Sport Director Talent Community create and maintain their own profile, upload their CV, and list their preferences, including whether they would like a national, state, or community role
- Each profile is assigned to talent pools based on the candidate’s skills, experience, attributes and role preferences
- Sporting organisations place advertisements for board roles including chair, elected or appointed directors, or committee members
- Sporting organisations receive a list of potential candidates (pools) from the Sport Director Talent Community
- Sporting organisations contact suitable candidates
How do I find out about opportunities?
There are 3 ways:
1 - You will receive invitations to express your interest for relevant roles from the Sport Director Talent Community.
If you have previously been registered on the National Sports Director Register, please note that you will no longer receive emails for every opportunity that is advertised. Instead, you will receive messages for roles which are aligned to your profile, matching your skills and interest areas to the advertised position.
2 - Subscribe to the Clearinghouse for Sport Daily News.
Become a Clearinghouse member and stay connected to the latest sport news, including recruitment opportunities.

Sport Director Talent Community
The Sport Director Talent Community is an Australian Sports Commission initiative designed to connect talented people with board and committee positions in Australian sport.
It is free for individuals to join and for Australian sporting organisations to advertise roles.
Who is eligible to join the Sport Director Talent Community?
Any individual who meets the following criteria can join:
- 18 years or older
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Not currently declared bankrupt
How is my personal information used?
The security of your personal information is of utmost importance to us. The information you provide in your profile is accessible to the administration team of the Sport Director Talent Community (Australian Sports Commission personnel).
When you receive an invitation for a relevant role, you have the ability to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). Your profile will then be made available to the hirer (sporting organisation) via a secure login, who will contact candidates they wish to consider further.
Once the position is filled, the hirer will lose access to the candidates' information.
For further information, email sportdirector_admin@ausport.gov.au or read the ASC Privacy Policy.
What are the benefits of joining the Sport Director Talent Community?
Aside from being the first to hear about great opportunities, members of the Community are kept informed about development opportunities including courses, industry events and sector trends.
