The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) and Volunteering Australia will continue to work together to promote and enhance sport volunteering in the community.
The two peak industry bodies have announced a new partnership on International Volunteer Day to build on their cooperation and encourage more Australians to become volunteers.
Included in the new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed by the two organisations, is a renewed focus on growing and enhancing the sport volunteer workforce and implementing the recently announced Sport Volunteer Coalition Action Plan.
Volunteers play a critical role within the Australian sporting landscape with nearly three million Australians giving their time, but more are needed to grow sport at all levels.
ASC General Manager, Sport Division, Brooke De Landre said: “We are thrilled to renew and extend our partnership with Volunteering Australia and look forward to continuing to work collaboratively together to benefit the sport and volunteering sectors and bring our vision for sport volunteering to life.”
Volunteering Australia CEO Mark Pearce said: “Volunteers play a vital role in sport and we’re delighted to extend our partnership with ASC and to be part of the Sport Volunteer Coalition which is championing a better future for sport volunteering .”
