ASC welcomes new Rowing Australia CEO

26 June 2023

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) has welcomed the appointment of Sarah Cook OLY as the new CEO of Rowing Australia.

The two-time Olympian brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of Rowing Australia as well as the High Performance Operations Manager at Australian Sailing.

ASC Executive General Manager of AIS Performance Matti Clements said the appointment is exciting for both rowing and the broader Australian sporting community.

“Sarah brings a unique viewpoint to the role thanks to her incredible experience as an athlete, coach and administrator,” Ms Clements said.

“She has been a brilliant example of how valuable it is to retain our athletes in the system once they retire from sport and Sarah has benefited from being part of initiatives such as the AIS Athlete Accelerate Program and the Women Leaders in Sport Program.

“Sarah has also been imperative to the development of Australia’s High Performance 2032+ Strategy and I look forward to seeing how she continues to bring the vision of winning well to inspire Australians to life as the head of Rowing Australia.

The ASC would also like to thank outgoing CEO Ian Robson for his contribution to rowing and to Australian sport.
