Two of the Australian Sports Commission’s free online courses have been acknowledged with a series of awards at the 2022 LearnX Summit and Awards Show.
Delivered through the ASC’s Australian Sport Learning Centre, The Start Line Director Education Course and the Community Coaching Essential Skills Course both received top-level platinum awards for ‘free resource’ and ‘accessibility’ in the ‘best eLearning design’ awards category.
The courses also received diamond awards in the ‘best eLearning project’ category for ‘eLearning project’ and ‘eLearning project (industry specific)’. The Learning Centre also received a diamond award with Kineo for ‘best widespread eLearning adopter’.
The ASC’s Australian Sport Learning Centre director Rachel Piastri said that platinum recognition for the accessibility awards were particularly important for the ASC and our strategic vision to make sport more accessible and welcoming for all.
The Learning Centre delivers free centralised world-class content to build the learning and development capability of the sector, helping volunteers and paid staff with their diverse roles and responsibilities.
Free resources including Director Education courses, the community coaching course and a Community Officiating General Principles course have all been incredibly popular since being launched.
The Community Coaching Essentials Skills Course helps new and existing coaches to plan, engage and deliver quality environments for participants who are eager to learn or play social sport, while The Start Line Director Education Course provides board members with foundational knowledge to understand their duties and responsibilities.
A new course, The Defence – Risk Education for Directors continues to build these resources for board members and volunteers in sport.
The Learning Centre also provides sports with a platform to deliver their own courses and attracted more than 100,000 users in its first year.
The LearnX awards celebrate innovation, new practices and technologies that drive and support talent development across corporate, government, education, non-profit and community service sectors. Entries are judged on specific merits, not against each other.
The LearnX Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation promoting innovative workforce learning and supporting technologies. The event attracts the leading learning and training industry organisations in Australia.
