Cost of sport survey: addressing the barriers to participating in sport

22 October 2024

Do you play or help deliver community sport as a coach, official, administrator or volunteer?

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is working with researchers from Federation University on a project looking at how to make community sport more affordable for all.

This project is a priority activity in Horizon One of Play Well – Australia’s codesigned National Sport Participation Strategy which aims to transform sport participation to Brisbane 2032 and beyond.

The cost of sport surveys are open until 31 December.

We encourage participants, clubs and associations to fill out a quick online survey to help us better understand the costs involved in playing and delivering community sport.

The first survey is for people involved in sport while the second is for clubs and associations that deliver community sport.

If you play and deliver sport or have children that play sport you can complete both surveys or the first survey multiple times (indicating the costs involved for you and your child/ren to play sport).

The results will help inform our future sport participation strategies and collaborate on solutions to reduce the barriers to playing and delivering sport.

The surveys close at 5pm on Tuesday 31 December.
