From 20 to 26 May 2024, we will celebrate the incredible people who get involved as sport volunteers and encourage more people to do the same.

Key to this year’s campaign is the effort to showcase the diverse communities of volunteers and the different ways people can give back to sport, aligning to Volunteering Australia’s Something for Everyone theme.

Sport volunteering is for everyone, no matter your age, gender or background and it certainly doesn’t have to be a full-time job. You might not be able to commit to hours of volunteering each week, but you might put up your hand while on the sideline on game day. There are plenty of opportunities to tailor volunteering to suit your lifestyle and schedule.

We have collaborated with sport partners across Australia, unearthing stories of real-life volunteers. Throughout May, the ASC will be promoting volunteer stories across our channels to recognise and thank sport volunteers.

Importantly, the ASC is helping everyone jump on board to say 3 Cheers for Volunteers with a toolkit of resources to enable wide promotion of this message. The toolkit contains easy-to-use templates, key messages, posters, certificates and social media tiles.

With NVW 2024 about to kick-off, we hope everyone uses the toolkit to spotlight sport volunteers who are at the heart of their sport. Remember to tag @ASC and use the hashtag #3CheersForVolunteers.
